All the Requirements to join MAMA

To guarantee the best quality of learning we need you and the other participants to have a good educational background and a certain professional experience. For this reason the participation requirements and selection criteria for MAMA are rigorous and demanding.

You are required to have:

A university degree in any discipline - with preference for candidates with a background in the Humanities or any Social Sciences
Two years professional experience with an international profile
Fluency in English. If your mother tongue is not English you are required to submit a TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic or CAE result

The application deadline is 31st May 2023. We invite you to apply on time.

What we need from you

Degree Certificate and Transcript

You are required to submit an official transcript or certified copy of your grades (in English or Italian) and a certified copy of your degree certificate from the college or university you attended. This must include grades for individual subjects with the grading scale, the type of degree, the date of graduation and the dates of enrolment.

Documents must be official: they can also be sent directly by the candidate’s University to admissions.mama@sdabocconi.it

Applicants who obtained a university degree in Italy must provide a self-declaration of the Degree Certificate and Transcript (form provided by your university). This self-declaration is only for students who graduated from Italian universities.

Fluency in English

MAMA is held entirely in English, thus all applicants must be highly proficient in written and spoken English. If English is not your mother tongue, you must submit a result of the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic or CAE tests.

At the testing site, you can specify that your results be sent directly to SDA Bocconi (TOEFL School Code: 0698, PTE School Code: R7G-6R-23). If you have already taken one of these tests, the original results must be sent directly to the school. Test results prior to January 2021 are no longer valid.

A test result may be waived for mother-tongue English speakers and for students who did their degree in English, or can document significant professional experience in an English-speaking country.

Two References

References must be from people who know you well, and can comment knowledgeably on your professional and/or academic background, providing a detailed evaluation of your qualifications for the MAMA.

The contact details of your referees (name, surname and email address) will need to be uploaded on the automatic tool of the online application form. The referees will then receive a form to be filled out and submitted to us.

SDA Test

The SDA Test, offered in English, assesses quantitative, logical, and verbal skills. Enrollment for the SDA test will be communicated by Admission Services once the pre-selection is complete.

An interview with the program director/coordinator

Either in Milano at SDA Bocconi, or remotely by a video call

Application from Sponsor Companies

If your company intends to financially support your participation in the MAMA program (through partial or total payment of the tuition fee), an additional document must be completed by a company representative. A special form is available on our online application.

Italian language instruction (optional)

Although the program is conducted mostly in English, if you are not fluent in Italian it is highly recommended that you take the Italian course for beginners during the program.

How to Apply

Fill out and submit the online application through our website and upload all required documents online.

Applications for the 2023-2024 edition are available here.
Applications must be submitted not later than May 31^st 2023.

Only submitted applications will be considered for the selection process. Applicants may verify the status of their application and documentation on the application platform. Documents can be uploaded after submitting your application.

Official/original or certified degree certificate/transcript should be uploaded through MyApplication portal and then provided to the Admissions office.Original documents can also be sent directly by the candidate’s University to admissions.mama@sdabocconi.it

If you have not received any information 4 weeks after sending your application, you should contact the MAMA Admissions Service.

Admission Process

Applications are examined on a rolling basis. Those received well in advance of the deadline have a greater chance of being admitted. Therefore, it is in your best interest to submit your application as early as possible. When we receive your application, we carry out a pre-selection based on the documents sent.

The Admissions Committee lets you know if you are considered suitable to proceed with the selection process.

If so, you will be required to have an interview, which may be held at SDA Bocconi in Milano or may take place remotely (via videocall). Candidates are carefully selected on the basis of an extensive review of their skills. Individual characteristics and personal interests are fundamental to give us an idea of who you are as a person.

The final result will be communicated once the application is complete, which means all documents must have been received and tests completed.

Tuition Fees

The total fee is € 28,000 to be paid in four installments

First Installment

Second Installment

Third Installment

by 31 January 2024

Fourth Installment

by 30 April 2024

The fees include:

Teaching material
Courses in Italian language, with the possibility of attaining the CILS qualification of Italian language proficiency
MAMA Grand Tour in Italy

Participants must provide their own laptop.

Personal Expenses

Personal expenses will vary significantly depending on each individual's lifestyle. In general, the cost of living in Milano is comparable to that of other major European cities. We provide you with a forecast of monthly expenses as experienced by the MAMA students in recent years:

The Program may involve company presentations and visits to Italian cultural institutions. Those extracurricular activities (held in the period October- May) will be day trips from Milan: transportation costs are to be covered by students.

Scholarships & Tuition Waivers

SDA Bocconi has made available three partial merit-based tuition waivers to MAMA candidates with an outstanding profile.

Scholarships/Tuition waivers are awarded by rounds on merit basis. Please apply to the scholarship/tuition waivers through your online application even though your selection process is still in progress. If you meet more than one requirement, you can apply to multiple ones.

Admission to the program is independent of the awarding of any scholarship or tuition waiver.

Jean Monnet Scholarship Program

MAMA is one of SDA Bocconi’s Master programs listed as eligible by the Jean Monnet EU scholarship scheme (JM). The JM scholarship is awarded to Turkish citizens willing to join EU universities (1-year full-time Master programs taught in English). Loans and Funding

The School assists candidates with their search for funding by supplying the necessary documentation and encouraging them to explore all scholarship and loan possibilities. SDA Bocconi provides opportunities for low-interest loans to admitted students (International students, Italian students), thanks to agreements with partner banks. Loan applications must be submitted by the end of month that follows your Master starting date.

Furthermore, the University provides international students with information about possible sources for financing in several countries. For further information, please visit the Università Bocconi website.
