Publications

The SEE Lab produces research reports both on commission and in response to public tenders, independently or in collaboration with its Members, Partners and stakeholders. It investigates space economy through a multidisciplinary lens, varying in different topics, such as:

  • Satellite services’ economic, social and environmental impacts on strategic non-space industries.
  • Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) small satellites constellations broadband connectivity impact.
  • Launch vehicles cost analysis, carried out through a cost estimation model, and launch and transportation systems’ environmental impact, examined according to the European Space Agency guidelines on lyfe cycle assessments.
  • Micro-launchers market analysis in terms of competitors, value-chain architectures, financing schemes, and business models.
  • Space debris scenarios analysis, investigating satellites operators’ economic incentives to adopt mitigation measures and studying possible public-private solutions.
  • Telecommunication on the Moon, exploring alternative business/partnership models and investment options in order to achieve a sustainable plan for both communication and navigation businesses in lunar orbits.
  • On-Orbit Servicing net present value analysis, creating a dynamic tool aimed at supporting the decision-making of the OOS stakeholders, introducing OOS value in the utility function of buyers and assessing the risks for providers.
