By hosting the twenty-sixth edition of the AHRMIO Annual Conference (AHRMIO is the Association for Human Resources Management in International Organizations), SDA Bocconi, from October 6 to 8, will become a hub for dialogue and scientific dissemination on the reform of international organizations.
The annual event, which brings together HR professionals from international organizations, scholars, and industry experts, will take place alongside the opening of the Executive Master in Management of International Organizations (EMMIO).
The conference will attract around 150 participants from a community of more than 1,000 members worldwide and will feature over 40 speakers from international organizations, academia, the private sector, and the nonprofit world.
SDA Bocconi will also play a key role in disseminating the results of scientific research on leadership and HR management. Among the speakers are its professors Leonardo Caporarello, Greta Nasi, Gianluca Salviotti and Marco Tortoriello, alongside professionals such as Adama Sanneh, a SDA alumnus who will soon be honored by the Bocconi Alumni Community as Alumnus Changemaker.
This is not the first time SDA Bocconi has hosted the AHRMIO conference: it already did so in 2017. “Bringing the AHRMIO Annual Conference back to SDA Bocconi underscores how a distinguished School of Management provides the ideal ecosystem — where rigorous scholarship meets real-world HR leadership — for navigating today’s fragmented world with purpose and impact,” says Danijela Milić, AHRMIO Vice-Chair.
The conference has always been a platform for exchanging practices and reflections for those working in human resource management within international organizations. The theme of the 2025 edition will be “HR at the Crossroad,” highlighting the challenges international organizations face in a context marked by geopolitical tensions, limited financial resources, technological transformation, and rapidly shifting social expectations. The program will feature keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and parallel workshops, with a strong focus on how the HR function can continue its evolution from an operational role to a strategic lever.
“International organizations and their HR,” says Alexander Hiedemann, EMMIO Program Coordinator, “need to attract and retain talent and support them through change. The debate will focus on how human resources can contribute to repositioning international development systems.”
Over the three days, the program will also include dialogue with the private sector, nonprofits, and foundations, fostering cross-fertilization.
