Offer sports organizations know-how, rationales and tools to support and “professionalize” management and managerial activities.
The Management Module of the 24th edition of the FIFA Master has concluded at SDA Bocconi. Following the completion of the Humanities Module (September-December) at DMU University in Leicester, the 26 students from over 20 different nations transitioned to SDA Bocconi, where they attended the following courses: Foundations of Sport Management (Dino Ruta), Sport HR & People Management (Beatrice Manzoni), Sport Finance (Marco Morelli), Sport Strategic Planning (Mikkel Draebye), Sport Marketing (Davide Reina), Sport Event Management (Deborah Raccagni and Giuseppe Rizzello), and Sport Innovation (Antonio Palmieri). Three months filled with lectures, exams, guest speakers, and visits.
Â
Students undertook four Company Visits to learn about the managerial dynamics of various sports organizations and different sports, with particular attention to major sporting events scheduled to take place in our country in the coming years: FC Internazionale with CEO Alessandro Antonello, Ferrari with Head of Employer Branding and University Relations Dennis de Munck, Milano-Cortina 2026 Foundation with Director of Education & Culture Domenico De Maio and Head of Legacy Iacopo Mazzetti, and Vero Volley with President Alessandra Marzari.
Â
In the classroom, professionals enriched the educational path, including Hammad Albalawi (SAFF), Mezna AlMarzooqi (Saudi MoS, LDI), Mohammed Awlia (Saudi MOS), Diederik Dewaele (ECA), Federica Fontana and Gianluca Giovannini (Deloitte), Roberto Grassi (FIFA), Court Jeske (USL), Oleksandr Kucheriavyi (UEFA), Frank Leenders (FIBA), Sara Marchionni (ATP), Luigi Giacomo Mascellaro (PwC), Niccolò Mornati and Alexander Craig (Infront), Mark Nervegna (RAIOLA), Carlo Nohra (Saudi Pro League), Stephen Nuttall (First Decide), Damjan Rudez (former NBA player and Sunset Festival), Andrea Traverso (UEFA), Giusy Virelli (Giro d’Italia), Javier Zanetti (FC Internazionale), and Matteo Zuretti (National Basketball Players Association). A particularly exciting and significant moment was the class's meeting with Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize laureate 2006, interviewed by Rector Francesco Billari.
Â
Dino Ruta, Scientific Director of the Management Module, highlights that "the FIFA Master has had the ability to inspire and create an advanced education system in the European sports market. Conceived more than 25 years ago, it has led to the proliferation of other training initiatives. The FIFA Master now boasts more than 650 alumni engaged in the world of sports and many more who would like to participate."
Â
The integration of theoretical content with relevant field testimonies and the cultural diversity of the class make this program unique, also for the experience of the faculty.
Â
This year, for the seventh consecutive year and the eleventh time in its history, the FIFA Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport (FIFA Master) has been ranked 1st in Europe according to the ranking of Post Graduate courses in Sport Management by SportBusiness.
Â
During the Management Module in Milan, the Master's Board - composed of CIES and other Universities - initiated the selection process for the next class, the twenty-fifth edition.
Â
The class will begin the final module of this 24th edition, Sport Law, in Neuchatel in April. The FIFA Master is a program organized by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) to promote advanced and multi-disciplinary training in the world of sports. It is carried out by three partner Universities on three distinct topics: SDA Bocconi (Management Module), De Montfort University in Leicester, UK (Humanities), and University of Neuchatel in Switzerland (Law).
