Curriculum Vitae

Rota Silvia is Associate Professor of Practice di Government, Health and Not for Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Her collaboration with SDA Bocconi began in 2009. She coordinated important research projects, training and organizational support for different public institutions. In particular, the projects on which she is involved concern the development of public management skills and/or innovation and changes in performance management and accounting systems. Currently Silvia is lecturer and coordinator of the following executive courses (in Italian): "Postgraduate Course in Management of Public Administrations - MAP”,  “Public sector Budgeting and reporting”, ” Public sector Accounting and Budgeting", ”Public Performance Management”, as well as lecturer of other executive courses and member of NETCAP the Public Sector Accountants and Controllers’ Network of SDA Bocconi.

Her research activities focus on the processes of budgeting and reporting in the public sector: accounting systems, budgeting and reporting; use of performance measurement and evaluation systems in decision making processes; impacts of recent reforms (accounting system harmonization, performance management, local governments amalgamations and cooperation) on public organizations. She has declined these issues especially in local governments, central public administrations (ministries and agencies) and, more recently, in Regions and health agencies.

Her works are published in national and international journals such as Azienda Pubblica, International Review of Administrative Sciences, Critical Perspectives on Accounting and in SDA Bocconi’s research outlet as OCAP and OASI. She participates in national and international networks such as the International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), Special Interest Group in "Accounting and Accountability”; the Comparative International Government Accounting Research Network (CIGAR), AIDEA.

 

Silvia earned a Degree in Economics and Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions from the Bocconi University and a Ph.D. in Strategic Marketing and Business Administration from University of Bergamo. Passionate about motor sports, she practices track riding at an amateur level.
