Curriculum Vitae

Alessandro Minichilli is Associate Professor of the Department of Managment and Technology and Director of the MSc in Management at Bocconi University. Since January 2017, he is Director of Research - Claudio Dematté Corporate and Financial Institutions Division. 

His collaboration with SDA began in 2004. Since then, he held courses on Corporate Governance and Family Business in both Master Programs (MBA, GEMBA) and open market initiatives. Over the years, he has developed an intense research and training activity for medium and large companies on the topic. In addition, he has served as external independent advisor in the annual board review process of various Italian listed companies.

His areas of expertise include the design of corporate governance systems during transition and leadership reorganization processes of family controlled firms. Currently, he is focusing on three main areas of research and practice: the first concerns Corporate Governance characteristics and functioning in large firms. The second is about succession process and planning in family firms, with emphasis on selection and training on new generations. The last is on top management teams in the different types of firms and, more generally, on the relations between corporate elites’ characteristics and corporate strategic choices.

He authored more than 60 international scientific publications on these topics. His works have been published in Management Science, Strategic Management Journal and Corporate Governance: An International Review, among several others. He is also the author of numerous research reports, in particular the annual report of the Observatory AUB, the major Italian data source on family firms’ governance structures and strategy. He takes part in the editorial board of leading international journals such as Family Business Review, Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal and Journal of Management Studies. He is also a member of some important international academic communities, including the Academy of Management (AoM) and the Strategic Management Society (SMS).

Alessandro earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management from Bocconi University.  He is married with two children.
