MBA Class: Performance Management & Control
This course is designed to develop both a conceptual and a technical understanding of performance management and control systems (PMCS). These are considered broadly to include everything that managers do to ensure good performance or, more specifically, to ensure that the companies’ strategies are implemented effectively. Most of the classes are based on cases case that bring the topics “to life” and provide issues to discuss and the opportunity to apply PMCS techniques and tools. The focus of the session will be on the measurement and evaluation of the performances of organizational entities and their managers. Specifically, we will deal with the use of financial measures, both accounting-based and value-based (such as Economic Value Added), their effects and potential limitations in promoting goal congruent behaviors.
