Boris Otto

Boris Otto is Professor of Industrial Information Management at TU Dortmund University and Executive Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Software Engineering ISST. Furthermore, he is member of the Board of Directors of the International Data Spaces (IDS) Association and Member of the Advisory Board of CDQ AG, St. Gallen.

His research focuses on Data Resource Management and Digital Business Engineering. Research topics are, for example, Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Sovereignty and Data Architectures as well as Data Ecosystems and Data-driven Business Models. Boris is a trusted advisor for both large and medium-sized companies when it comes to Digital Transformation and establishing an effective and efficient Data Resource Management capability within organizations.

Boris holds a PhD degree from the University of Stuttgart, Germany, and received his post-doctoral qualification (habilitation) and “venia legendi” from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He was Visiting Research Fellow at the Tuck School of Business at Darmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and held positions in industry, e.g. at PwC and SAP.
