The selection process is based on an overall analysis of various factors including skills, talents and formal pre-requisites.

Candidates are required to have

Degree certificate, transcript and detailed CV
You must submit a detailed CV and an official degree certificate (in English or Italian) from the college or University attended. The certificate must show the type of degree, the enrollment dates and the date of graduation. You are also required to submit an original/official or certified original transcript of grades (in English or Italian) from the college or University attended. This must include grades for individual subjects and the grading scale. Applicants who obtained a University degree in Italy must provide a self-declaration of the Degree Certificate and Transcript (form provided by their University). This self-declaration is only for students graduated from Italian Universities.

Two letters of reference
Reference letters must be from people who know you well, and can comment knowledgeably about your professional and/or academic background and provide a detailed evaluation of your qualifications. The SDA Bocconi reference form (available online with the application form) must be used. The reference letters must be emailed directly by the referees from their company email address to admissions.mcf@sdabocconi.it.

Proficiency in English
All applicants must be highly proficient in written and spoken English. Candidates are required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS or PTE Academic or Cambridge Proficiency (CPE) result. This requirement does not apply to students who are native English speakers or who have completed a University program in English. Candidates for the MCF 2018-2019 edition must take a test by June 2018 and test results prior to January 2016 are no longer valid*.

*TOEFL and PTE results can be submitted to the SDA Bocconi School of Management using code number: 0698 for TOEFL, R7G-6R-23 for PTE. This will allow our office to directly receive the result of the exam. Candidates who have already taken the test must contact ETS or Pearson to have their original score report forwarded to the Admissions Office.

GMAT  or GRE
The GMAT (or GRE) is mandatory for all applicants. The GMAT is an internationally recognized test in English that evaluates your quantitative, verbal, and analytical skills. Although there is no required minimum score for admission, a high score is beneficial during the admission process. When the test is taken, the name of the School should be specified, which will allow our Admissions Service to receive the results directly. The identification code for MCF is 3WJ-L8-22. Candidates for the MCF 2018-2019 edition must take a test by June 2018 and test results prior to January 2013 are no longer valid*.

*As an exception, and for very specific reasons, candidates can ask the Admissions Service the authorization to take the SDA Test as an alternative to the GMAT/GRE. The SDA Test is organized by SDA Bocconi, and assesses quantitative, logical and verbal skills. Enrolment for the test is organized directly through the Admissions Service after submission of the application for admission. The fee for the SDA Test is EUR 100.

CFA certificate
CFA score is considered additional and preferential through the selection process.

Interview

After an initial review of your application, a selected number of candidates will be invited for an admissions interview. This will allow you to show that you possess the essential skills, talents and motivations that are essential to getting the most out of our MCF program. The interview may be held:

  • in Milano at SDA Bocconi.
  • by telephone
  • by webcam

The application must also be accompanied by:
Copy of ID or passport.
Payment of the Admission Procedure Fee (€ 100) using the special form in the application form.

  • "MCF provided me with an upside in my career, as it taught me that quality is not an accident, but the result of intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution.
MCF was real value added both to my personal and professional life, as  soft skills and knowledge were the daily routine in the Program.
I highly recommend it both as an Academic program and as a life experience to all those who consider becoming finance professionals."

    Ahmed Mostafa El-Nemr, Egyptian | MCF 2012

The admission process

The application is available exclusively online and must be completed in English. The selection process begins in November 2017.

The MCF admission process is rigorous and designed not only to determine whether candidates are qualified for the MCF program, but also whether the program will meet each candidate’s expectations and career goals.

The MCF application review begins in November and ends in July of the following year. As soon as we receive your application, we carry out a pre-selection process based on the documents sent. Once the pre-selection is complete, we let you know if your application is suitable to proceed to the selection process.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and, given the large volume of applications, those received well in advance of the final deadline have a greater chance of being admitted. Therefore, it is in the interest of all candidates to submit their application as early as possible.

Admission Results
Candidates will receive a formal letter from the Admissions Service informing them of the admission decision as soon as the selection process is completed. Results are never communicated via telephone.

If all available places have been filled, the School may decide to place the candidate on a wait list or offer admission for the following year.

Deferment
Admission to the Program is valid for the year the application is submitted. Deferment can be requested for the following year, but approval of deferment is on a case-by-case decision of the Admissions Committee.

Non-admission
The candidates not admitted to the program will receive a non-admission letter. While we are aware of the deep commitment all candidates must make to go through the selection process, the School does not provide individual answers to non-admitted candidates.
