Biography
Marianna Cavazza is an Associtate Professor of Practice in Health Policy at SDA Bocconi School of Management
At SDA Bocconi Marianna runs courses on private health insurance in MiMS (Master in Management della Sanità) and MIHMEP (Master of International Healthcare Management, Economics and Policy) and she coordinates the "Aziende Associate Cergas" Network involving several pharmaceutical and medical device companies (e.g. Bayer, Novartis, Ipsen, Medtronic, Teva, Biogen etc. etc.). Moreover, she is a team member of the Observatory on Private Healthcare Consumption (OCPS - Osservatorio sui Consumi Privati in Sanità). She has led courses on private health insurance and clinical research management and policies with public and private healthcare clients.
Her research activities focus on private health consumption and private health insurance, cost and organization analysis in the healthcare sector, and on public policies analysis for instance in the blood transfusion sector and in specific areas of the pharmaceutical sector. Her current research addresses three main questions. The first concerns private health insurance sector changes in the near future. The second is about the relationship between the public and private healthcare sectors in the perspective, for instance, of the design of new services and information systems integration. The last one addresses public policy organization involving a wide range of stakeholders and the related governance tools. Marianna is the author of numerous books and articles on her topics of interest. Her works have been published in the European Journal of Health Economics, Health Policy, PLOS ONE, the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Nutrition, among others.
Marianna earned a BA in Political Science from Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy), an MSc in Economics from the University of York (UK) and a PhD in Economics from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano (Italy). She is married with two children.
