What is said about us
"These are tricky times for sovereign wealth funds. For some funds, inflows are severely hampered by the broad-based slump in commodity prices. Other funds contend with changing rules around financial regulation, cross-border trade and asset management, and their own governance. Then there are macro issues like the impact of our changing climate on portfolio investments and usual geopolitical uncertainty. Finally, every sovereign wealth fund faces the challenge of articulating and executing an investment strategy consistent with their fundamental purpose.Negotiating the list above is essential to long-term success, but very difficult to do sustainably. It requires commitment, awareness and skill in a multitude of subject areas.
The International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds—a member group of SWFs—was formed in 2009. Through the Santiago Principles, a voluntary code of good practice, staff at the various members funds have directly addressed issues relating to transparency and governance, learning from the experiences of their peer members.
To continue these efforts of developing awareness and skill, the Forum is pleased to formally recognise SDA Bocconi’s Sovereign Investment Academy. I congratulate its director on an inaugural program that is both topical and thorough, and am confident that several of the next generation of SWF leaders will emerge from its classrooms."
