Biografia

Marlene Jugl è Assistant Professor di Public Administration presso l'Università Bocconi, unendosi al Dipartimento di Social and Political Sciences nel 2019. In precedenza ha lavorato come Assistente di Ricerca presso l'Università di Potsdam in Germania. È anche co-presidente di EGPA's Permanent Study Group VI "Governance of Public Sector Organizations". 

La sua ricerca si situa nell'incontro tra amministrazione pubblica comparata, politica e politiche pubbliche, concentrandosi sulle performance dei governi e delle burocrazie in contesti diversi. Studia come le burocrazie pubbliche interagiscono con politici, cittadini e altre parti interessate, e come fattori societari, culturali e storici influenzano il funzionamento dei governi. È particolarmente interessata all'effetto delle dimensioni del paese sulla struttura, la stabilità e le performance dei governi e delle amministrazioni pubbliche. Altri interessi di ricerca includono la gestione delle crisi, la vulnerabilità e l'apprendimento, e la reputazione burocratica. È autrice di numerosi libri e articoli sui suoi argomenti di interesse, pubblicati, tra gli altri, nel Journal of Antitrust Enforcement, Regulation & Governance e nel Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory. 

Ha conseguito una Laurea magistrale in Public Administration presso l'Università di Potsdam e un Dottorato presso la Hertie School di Berlino. Ha studiato Political Science, Public Administration and French presso l'Università di Potsdam, Sciences Po Lyon e l'Università di Varsavia. È stata ricercatrice ospite presso l'Istituto Universitario Europeo a Firenze.
