Biografia

Emanuele Borgonovo è Professore Ordinario e Direttore del Dipartimento di Scienze delle Decisioni dell'Università Bocconi. È Research Affiliate presso il Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. È Co-editor-in-chief dell’ European Journal of Operational Research e advisor della Springer International Series in Management Science and Operations Research. E’ membro del Comitato Scientifico della Fondazione Silvio Tronchetti Provera, co-chair del comitato tecnico per l’Uncertainty Analysis della European Safety and Reliability Association e Fellow del Bocconi Institute for Data Science and Analytics. È stato presidente della Decision Analysis Society di INFORMS, 2020-2022.

Ha conseguito il dottorato in Probabilistic Risk Assessment presso il MIT. Ha vinto numerosi premi nazionali e internazionali, ha pubblicato oltre 100 articoli scientifici, in riviste scientifiche internazionali. Ha lavorato in progetti di ricerca internazionali con istituzioni come la US Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA), l'Idaho National Laboratory, il Dipartimento dell'Energia degli Stati Uniti, la US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Electricité de France, Charles River Analytics, ecc. I suoi interessi di ricerca riguardano l'analisi di sensibilità, l'analisi decisionale, l'analisi del rischio e la quantificazione dell'incertezza. Nei suoi lavori, ha introdotto diverse nuove tecniche di analisi di sensibilità, come la Misura di Importanza Differenziale, che è stata introdotta nella NASA Probabilistic Risk Assessment Procedures Guide for NASA Managers and Practitioners. È autore dei libri: “Sensitivity Analysis: An Introduction for the Management Scientist”, e “Quando ai Manager danno i Numeri”. Presso SDA Bocconi, è responsabile del corso Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Executives, è stato direttore del Management Science Lab dal 2013 al 2017, e insegna nei programmi MBA e DBA della SDA.
