2027 Strategy Science Conference and Doctoral Workshop
The Strategy Science Conference will take place on 28 and 29 May 2027, on the new campus of SDA Bocconi School of Management, a leading European institution committed to generating knowledge that matters and delivering cutting-edge business research.
Strategy Science, an INFORMS journal, has established itself as an important voice in the strategy field, providing an outlet for innovative strategy research tackling central questions in the field. In that spirit, the conference will provide an opportunity for strategy researchers to share their work with indepth discussions both in the context of the formal paper presentations and panel discussions.
The Conference will be preceded, on 27 May, by a Doctoral Workshop. Students admitted to the workshop will also be invited to participate in the conference that follows on May 28 and 29. The workshop is aimed at students who are finishing or have recently finished their coursework and are in the early stages of their dissertation work.
The deadline for submissions to the Conference and the Doctoral Workshop is 1 February 2027.

Funded and supported by a donation from Milan’s Romeo e Enrica Invernizzi Foundation, ICRIOS is a research center at Bocconi University created to be a reference point for cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary and collaborative research on innovation, organization, strategy and entrepreneurship, with the explicit objective to influence in a significant way both the academic debate and management practice.
ICRIOS promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing at any stage of the research process, especially among scholars in diverse and complementary fields, based across nations, and working in different research traditions. ICRIOS fellows are selected among recognized experts in their field of study.
Paper Submission
The conference aims to attract a diverse set of work addressing key issues in the strategy field.
By submitting a paper, you commit to presenting it in person in Milan upon invitation. The invitation is personal and cannot be transferred to a co-author.
Call for Papers
2027 Strategy Science Conference
All interested researchers are invited to submit their papers for presentation at the Strategy Science Conference by 1 February 2027, via the button below. Notifications of acceptance/rejection will be sent by 1 March 2027 Paper submissions should:
- Not exceed 35 pages all-inclusive.
- Use double spacing, 11-point font, and 1-inch margins on all sides.
- Be submitted as a PDF.
- Exclude author names to preserve anonymity.

The conference will be hosted by SDA Bocconi School of Management and by the Department of Management & Technology at Bocconi University and co-sponsored by the journal Strategy Science.

Applicants for the Doctoral Workshop should submit a single PDF file containing the following documents:
A brief statement of their research interests (3 to 4 pages).
Their CV.
One letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Applications for the Strategy Science Best PhD Paper Award
The competition is open to PhD students at any stage of their program. Submitted papers must be either sole-authored by the PhD student or co-authored with no more than one faculty member.
In the first stage, applicants should submit a 5-page extended abstract through the Strategy Science Manuscript Central portal.
Key dates
- 1 December, 2026: Submission system opens
- 15 January, 2027: Deadline for 5-page extended abstracts
- Mid-March 2027: Five finalists selected
The five finalists will be invited to submit their full papers and present them in a dedicated session at the Strategy Science Conference in Milan. Conference registration fees will be waived for all five finalists.
The winner will be announced during the conference.
Please note that submission to the Best PhD Paper Award is separate from the regular Strategy Science Conference submission process. Papers co-authored with a faculty member may also be submitted separately to the main conference through the regular submission process.

250€: Students (excluding those attending the Doctoral Workshop).
Conference registration is open to anyone interested in attending.
Participants of the Doctoral Workshop will not be charged a registration fee.
All participants must register for the Conference.
Notifications of paper acceptance or rejection will be sent out by 1 March 2027. Presenters should only register after receiving confirmation that their paper has been accepted.
Conference registration will be opened until 1 February, 2027, through the online registration platform.
