2025/26 Edition

The Best Performance Award is an SDA Bocconi initiative to reward the best companies that create economic, technological, human, social and environmental value by operating in an overall sustainable manner.

The Best Performance Award is the annual award dedicated to Italian companies, which stand out for excellence in sustainable development understood in a broad sense, that is, as the ability to do business while ensuring business continuity (a necessary condition) in compliance with:

human and environmental dimensions (Green & Social);
innovation (Innovation & Technology);
economic management (Value Added).

The five awards

The Best Performance Award is conferred on Italian companies with revenues between 15 mln and 5 bn euros. To ensure a fair comparison, three different size categories were created (Small, Medium and Large Company). Each of the categories is given an award.

There is also an award for the best company in the sample regardless of size. In addition to these, a fifth award is established to be given to the company that has distinguished itself in a hot topic decided annually by the Partners based on the year's major trends.

Entry requirements

Dimensional criteria:

Small: € 15-50 mln
Medium: € 51-100 mln
Medium-Large: € 101 mln – 5 bn

Performance criteria:

EBITDA margin above that of the industry average
Revenue growth above that of the industry average
Capex/Total Asset (Capital Expenditure) ratio above that of the industry average
NFP/EBITDA < 3
