The need

It is no longer just a matter of technical skill. By now, the management of a football club has long required executive skills comparable in all respects to those of an enterprise in which the strategic asset is human capital. Success in sports (too) is increasingly dependent on management equipped with the knowledge and tools to meet the new big challenges, on the field and beyond.

The opportunity

The Executive Program in Football Management, of the FIGC Technical Department carried out in partnership with SDA Bocconi, aims to be the benchmark for improving knowledge and skills for the management of professional organizations in football.

The objective of the Program is to provide managers and professionals of football clubs with the most useful executive tools to improve the quality of their choices. It aims to disseminate the most advanced executive knowledge in the world of football to help improve the performance of tangible and intangible assets, define innovative planning with all stakeholders in the football ecosystem, and work following principles of sustainability, enhancing the technical and human components of football.

Why choose it?

The Program in Football Management gives you the best methodological tools to govern complexity and make informed and effective decisions. In particular, it will help you to:

  • Decide which actors to relate to in the marketing perspective (fans, sponsors, and broadcasters).
  • Identify the best strategies for brand enhancement of a club or athlete.
  • Define a club's fan journey and communication tools in light of digital transformation.
  • Outline the organizational structure of a club.
  • Evaluate the potential and development of people working in a club and manage their behavior and performance, fostering the creation of an organizational environment suitable for the enhancement of individuals.
  • Negotiate with various players in the sports ecosystem. Establish economic-financial goals to be achieved over a given time horizon, meeting the constraints of financial fair play and identifying specific actions for revenue growth and cost containment.
  • Choose the most suitable technologies for the creation of a "data analytics" system functional for the development of athletes' performance and improvement of certain processes. Set a club sustainability policy geared toward medium- to long-term economic, social and environmental development, while also enhancing the educational function of football within the community.
  • Understand the interventions needed to ensure the environmental sustainability of their sports facilities while creating value for the community.
