In late March 2026, the SDA Bocconi Master in Corporate Finance Candidates enjoyed a three-day study tour in Luxembourg, which offered firsthand exposure to the financial ecosystem of one of Europe’s leading financial centers. The experience helped the MCFers to connect classroom concepts with real business practices.

The European Investment Bank offered a strong introduction to the institutional side of finance. The venue showed how the EIB supports investment and economic development across Europe, and how a public institution can combine policy goals with financial discipline. This meeting helped MCFers to better understand the strategic role of supranational finance in driving growth and innovation.

At Ferrero and Amazon, the focus shifted toward corporate life, career development, and the internal logic of large international businesses. At Ferrero, the MCFers explored the company’s products, values, and organizational culture, while also gaining insight into the career opportunities available in a global consumer goods group. At Amazon, they learned more about finance roles, recruitment processes, and possible career paths within one of the world’s largest technology companies. Both visits provided practical sense of how skills developed during our studies can translate into professional opportunities across industries.

At PwC, MCFers discussed M&A and acquisition dynamics to get a clearer picture of how transactions are structured and how advisory firms support clients through complex deals. At Intesa Sanpaolo Luxembourg, they learned more about the broader banking group and the products and services offered from Luxembourg, with useful insights into the bank’s business areas and positioning. At Azimut, they explored public and private markets, along with the linkage between market activity and regulation.

One of the most meaningful moments of the trip was the networking aperitif with Bocconi and MCF Alumnae/i working in Luxembourg. Beyond the opportunity to hear about their career paths and experiences, the evening made very clear the strength of the network. This meeting showed how strong and supportive this community is, and how valuable it can be when approaching the job market and building an international career.

On the final day, MCFers attended presentations by HSBC, Pictet, and M80. These covered corporate banking, alternative investments, and private equity, giving a broad final overview of key areas within Luxembourg’s financial sector. MCFers discussed how corporate banking supports businesses, how alternative investments are managed, and how private equity creates value. After these presentations, they visited the Mudam museum, which added a cultural dimension to the experience and offered a fitting conclusion to an intense and stimulating program.

Overall, this study tour was a valuable learning experience. It gave MCFers a better understanding of Luxembourg’s economic and financial environment, exposing them to different career paths, and strengthening the link between academic preparation and professional practice. Most importantly, it showed how finance, industry, and networks come together in the international setting.
