MBA’s Conference and Regatta: the winners of the 15th edition in the waters of Santa Margherita Ligure
After 8 years, SDA Bocconi won again the MBA’s Conference and Regatta. To step up on the podium amongst the 52 crews in competition: for the Open category, Bocconi, MIT, the French INSEAD; for the offshore ESADE from Spain, MIP and London Business School.
The last edition of the SDA Bocconi Regatta has successfully finished in Santa Margherita Ligure, with more that 450 students coming from the 26 most prestigious business schools in the world (Canada, USA, Spain, France, Germany, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Hong Kong, Italy, Russia), competing in the challenge organized by SDA Bocconi School of Management and by Yacht Club Italiano.
The event took place from September 28th to September 29th: 52 sail boats competed at sea, divided into three categories: Open, Offshore and Cruising. On the podium for the Open category, Bocconi, MIT, the French INSEAD; for the offshore ESADE from Spain, MIP and London Business School. For the Cruise category: from Hong Kong HKUST Business School; MIP and Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO.
“Today has ended the 15th edition of a unique event – explains Alessandra Maestroni, member of the organizing team of SDA Bocconi and responsible for the Business School coordination. From 2004 more than 5.000 students and alumni of the Master of Business and Administration took part, coming from over 60 nations and from all continents.
This year we recorded the widest participation of all editions. It’s wonderful to see how everyone, year after year, falls in love with this event set in such an exceptional location. These are gratifications that provide us with the energy needed to start again with enthusiasm: within 3 weeks we will be back to work for the 2019 edition”.
"It's nice that the boys and girls of SDA Bocconi are back to winning after 8 years," commented Francesco Daveri, MBA Director. "Competition and cooperation are the essence of every MBA program. Winning a race means excelling over all competitors. But you don't excel if you don't work well in a team. Ours has proven to be good at both."
"Sailing is a perfect metaphor for management," added SDA Bocconi's Dean, Beppe Soda. "Beyond our pride in the splendid victory of our crew, I am sure that all the participants in the MBA's Conference and Regatta 2018, coming from 26 international business schools, have been able to draw very important lessons from this experience, creating bonds destined to last."
