Network LOPS

Logistica e le operations del pronto soccorso

The first “benchlearning” community dedicated to the management of Emergency Departments
Healthcare

The Emergency Department (ED) is one of the main gateways to healthcare, with over 20 million visits per year in Italy alone.
However, due to the high number of requests and the variability in terms of access and process, its management is among the most complex in the hospital sector. Although there have been clear improvements in managing Emergency-Urgency patient care, the Emergency Department remains one of the main challenges in healthcare management and policies—particularly concerning overcrowding and reducing waiting times.

Lean Management and Business Process Improvement have contributed to improving ED management. However, such innovations are still partial and heterogeneous due to different regional paradigms and local specificities.
It is therefore increasingly necessary to create conditions for the continuous exchange of practices and to consolidate the innovations developed during critical periods, with the goal of evolving the management models of emergency departments and emergency-urgent care networks.
This is the aim of LOPS, the first training and innovation executive network dedicated to Emergency Department management.

LOPS is both a peer-to-peer learning space and a unique opportunity for developing cutting-edge executive knowledge and skills, through targeted insights with the support and guidance of the SDA Bocconi faculty team.

The LOPS Network offers:

5 discussion workshops

LOPS targets professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of leadership, design, and management of ED activities and emergency-urgent care networks.

The network is open to those working in: Emergency Department Management Units; Emergency Departments; 118 Control Centers; Nursing Management Units; Medical Directorates Management Units and Operational Management functions.

The format includes 5 workshops designed with a hands-on, lab-based approach, aimed at fostering interaction between participants and SDA Bocconi faculty, with a focus on industry dynamics and the promotion of executive innovation in the fields of logistics and operations.

Each workshop combines theory, practice and exchange moments in an effective way and is divided into 6 steps:

  1. Theoretical framework introduction and definition by the course faculty
  2. Group work
  3. Networking lunch
  4. Open discussion on the topics addressed
  5. Debriefing and take home by the faculty
  6. Post-event material sharing and working document prepared by SDA Bocconi faculty
