The SEE Lab produces research reports both on commission and in response to public tenders, independently or in collaboration with its Members, Partners and stakeholders. It investigates space economy through a multidisciplinary lens, varying in different topics, such as:
- Satellite services’ economic, social and environmental impacts on strategic non-space industries.
- Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) small satellites constellations broadband connectivity impact.
- Launch vehicles cost analysis, carried out through a cost estimation model, and launch and transportation systems’ environmental impact, examined according to the European Space Agency guidelines on lyfe cycle assessments.
- Micro-launchers market analysis in terms of competitors, value-chain architectures, financing schemes, and business models.
- Space debris scenarios analysis, investigating satellites operators’ economic incentives to adopt mitigation measures and studying possible public-private solutions.
- Telecommunication on the Moon, exploring alternative business/partnership models and investment options in order to achieve a sustainable plan for both communication and navigation businesses in lunar orbits.
- On-Orbit Servicing net present value analysis, creating a dynamic tool aimed at supporting the decision-making of the OOS stakeholders, introducing OOS value in the utility function of buyers and assessing the risks for providers.
