Collaborative AI lab

The Collaborative AI Lab (CAIL) was established through a strategic partnership between SDA Bocconi School of Management and the Department of Computing Sciences at Bocconi University. The Lab aims to foster the convergence of expertise, stakeholders, and technologies to address complex problems through advanced scientific research and cutting-edge industrial applications.

 

CAIL promotes close and integrated collaboration between researchers and professionals from partner companies. Within a shared environment, the Lab develops advanced AI research, leveraging high computational capacity while consistently safeguarding data privacy, security, and ownership.

 

CAIL is part of Bocconi University’s broader education and research initiative on AI, in collaboration with Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.

Mission

The mission of CAIL is to facilitate the convergence of:

  • Advanced research: promoting scientific innovation in the most advanced fields of AI.
  • Cutting-edge technologies: leveraging High Performance Computing (HPC) resources and state-of-the-art technologies.

Objectives

CAIL was founded with the ambition of contributing to the advancement of artificial intelligence both scientifically and in terms of applications. Its primary objective is to promote cutting-edge research spanning from fundamental AI to scalable solutions for businesses, creating a strong bridge between theory and practice.

 

The Lab also seeks to strengthen the role of Europe and Italy in the global AI competition, offering an environment in which universities and companies can cooperate to generate sustainable innovation.
