Paola Profeta

Paola Profeta is Dean for Diversity, Inclusion and Sustainability and Full Professor of Public Finance at the Department of Social and Political Sciences of the Bocconi University. She is also  Director of the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality and Director of the MSc Politics and Policy Analysis. Previously she was researcher at Università di Pavia and Post-doc fellow at CORE, Université Catholique de Louvain.

At SDA Bocconi she is Director of the Diversity & Inclusion Management Course.

She is also member of the Management board of the International Institute of Public Finance.

Her areas of interest, teaching and research focus on gender economics, women in politics, policies for the promotion of gender equality and female leadership, public economics, welfare systems (pensions, education), comparative taxation. and political economy of taxation and welfare state.

She is the author of numerous books and articles on her topics of interest. Her works have been published in PNAS, Management Science, Demography, Journal of Public Economics, Economic Journal, Economic Policy, International Tax and Public Finance, European Journal of Political Economy, among others.

Paola earned a degree cum laude in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University in 1995 and a Ph.D. in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona in 2000. Visiting scholar at Columbia University, New York in 1998 and 1999.
