Niccolò Cusumano
Associate Professor of Practice

Biography
Niccolò Cusumano is an Associate Professor of Practice in Government, Health and Not-for-Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management. He has been collaborating with SDA Bocconi since 2012 and has participated in numerous research projects for public institutions and private organizations. He is a member of the faculty of several master's programs and executive education courses, both open-enrollment and customized. He is also a Contract Professor at Università Bocconi, where he teaches Project Management & Funding of International Programs. At SDA Bocconi, he coordinates the Executive Education program “European Funds: Strategies, Management and Reporting” and the Management of Healthcare Procurement and Contracts (MASAN) program.
His research focuses on public-private interactions, particularly in the areas of public procurement, public-private partnerships, impact investing, and European funding mechanisms. A second stream of research examines sustainability-related topics, including renewable energy sources and energy efficiency policies, on which he has taken part in numerous research projects and authored several academic publications. Niccolò is also a member of the research team of the SDA Bocconi–CERGAS MASAN Observatory, which focuses on healthcare procurement and contracting.
He is the author of numerous academic articles and professional contributions on these topics. His work has been published by EGEA, Greenleaf Publishing, and Palgrave Macmillan, and in leading international journals such as Environmental Science & Policy, Energy Policy, and Public Management Review. He also contributes to public debate on these issues through specialized publications such as Staffetta Quotidiana and national newspapers including Il Sole 24 Ore Sanità and Edilizia e Territorio.
Niccolò holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Management of Public and International Institutions from Università Bocconi, as well as a Double Degree in Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Urban and Territorial Strategies from Sciences Po and a Ph.D. in Management from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies.
