Luisa Gagliardi

Biography

Luisa Gagliardi is an Assistant Professor at Università Bocconi in the Department of Management and Technology since September 2019. She is also Research Fellow at ICRIOS (Bocconi) & CEP/SERC (LSE). Before joining Bocconi, she was Assistant Professor at the University of Geneva and Research Fellow at the LSE. 

She is the Principal Investigator of a 4-years project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) titled "Multinational Corporations: On the relation between the complexity of the knowledge base and the geographical and functional structure of the business group". Her research focuses on the role of human capital in shaping labor market, innovation and entrepreneurial outcomes. Among others, she studies how individual preferences and constraints relate to individual decisions and ultimately affect career progression, sorting across projects and organizations, or ventures’ success. Her second stream of research looks at the functioning of business groups and how their geographic structure relates to corporate strategy and performance. She is the author of numerous articles on her topics of interest. Her works have been published in the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Economic Geography, and Papers in Regional Science, among others.  

She has a Ph.D. in Economics from IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca.
