Lorenzo Fenech
Associate Professor of Practice
Biography
Lorenzo Fenech is an Associate Professor of Practice in Government Health and Not For Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
He teaches Operations Management and Private Consumption in Healthcare in the Master's and Open Programs in Healthcare at SDA Bocconi. He is the scientific coordinator of LOPS, the network on Logistics and Operations of the Emergency Room, and has been the coordinator of EMMAS, the Executive Master in Management of Healthcare and Social Care Companies, since 2016. His journey at SDA Bocconi began in 2012 at the Observatory on Private Consumption in Healthcare (OCPS), where he conducts systematic investigations on the development of the private healthcare market and related management models.
His research has focused primarily on operations management in healthcare and analyses of the private consumption sector in healthcare. Currently, his research activities primarily revolve around four issues: the management of Emergency Rooms and Emergency Departments, the logistics of outpatient care, the operational management of the coproduction of healthcare services, and the integration between public and private sectors in care pathways.
He is the author of several essays, book chapters, and articles on the topics he addresses. His works have been published in Health Policy, Economia e Management, Salute e Territorio, Mecosan, the OASI Report by SDA Bocconi, and ISTISAN (the journal of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità). His research has often been covered in the Italian press (Sole24Ore, Corriere della Sera, Repubblica), thus increasing his visibility nationally.
Lorenzo graduated cum laude in Political Economy from the University of Rome Sapienza, obtained a Master in Management for Healthcare (MiMS) from SDA Bocconi School of Management, and earned a PhD in Business Economics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Alfred Learner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware, United States. He holds dual Italian and Maltese citizenship.
