Giuditta Callea
Associate Professor of Practice

Biography
Giuditta Callea is an Associate Professor of Practice in Government, Health, and Not-for-Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management.
Her collaboration with SDA Bocconi began in 2010. She has coordinated significant national and international research projects, with funding from external public and private sources. Giuditta has led training activities for major companies in the medical devices sector and has been a lecturer for numerous executive courses.
Her research focuses on public procurement of health technologies, economic evaluations and Health Technology Assessment, financing and reimbursement systems for technologies, determinants of adoption and diffusion of new technologies, device surveillance, and traceability of technologies in administrative databases. She has been actively involved in the policy issues surrounding the introduction of new health technologies, being among the pioneers in Italy. She serves as the Principal Investigator for the project co-financed by the European Union and Innovative Health Initiative titled "Harmonised approach to Early Feasibility Studies for Medical Devices in the European Union."
Giuditta is the author of several articles published in leading international and national journals, including Social Science and Medicine, Health Economics, Health Policy, Health Economics, Policy and Law, Medical Decision Making, Clinical Therapeutics, Economic Modelling, Empirical Economics, Journal of Medical Marketing, Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research, EuroIntervention, HepatoPancreato Biliary, and Mecosan. One of her articles, "The effects of upcoding, cream skimming and readmissions on the efficiency of Italian hospitals: a Population–based Investigation" (co-authored with P. Berta, G. Vittadini, G. Martini), received the Best Paper Award Fabio Gobbo from the Italian Society of Economics and Industrial Policy. Giuditta coordinates the Observatory on Purchasing and Contract Management in Health (MASAN) at Cergas (Center for Research on Healthcare and Social Management)-SDA Bocconi. She is also a Topic Editor for the international journal Clinical Therapeutics, in the area of Pharmacoeconomics, Outcomes, and Health Policy.
Giuditta holds a degree in Management Engineering from the University of Brescia and a Ph.D. in Economics and Management of Innovation from the University of Bergamo.
