Giorgio Giacomelli
Associate Professor of Practice

Biography
Giorgio is an Associate Professor of Practice in Public Management at the Government, Health & Not for Profit (GHNP) area of SDA Bocconi School of Management.
Since 2013, he has been collaborating with SDA Bocconi, participating in research projects, training, and organizational support for public entities of various levels. His involvement in projects includes the innovation of performance measurement and evaluation systems, personnel management in the public sector, and organizational behavior.
From 2015 to 2019, he conducted research on performance evaluation and employee engagement in public health organizations at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa, where he obtained an International PhD in Management in 2018. Giorgio has authored publications on the mentioned research topics in national and international journals, including Azienda Pubblica, Public Administration, Public Management Review, Public Money & Management, International Review of Administrative Sciences, Mecosan, Health Care Management Review, Health Services Management Research.
He contributes to the research activities of SDA Bocconi's PA-POP Lab and PNRR Lab and the OASI Observatory (Observatory on Companies and the Italian Healthcare System). From 2020 to 2022, he served as the Coordinator of the Executive Master in Public Administration Management (EMMAP) and is currently responsible for the course on Public Value & Performance Management within the program. Giorgio is actively involved in national and international networks such as AIDEA (Italian Academy of Business Economics), AIES (Italian Association of Health Economics), PMRA (Public Management Research Association), IRSPM (International Research Society for Public Management). He is currently the principal investigator of the research project MIRROR (Making public education representative to foster inclusive communities), funded under the Inequalities Research 2023 call by Fondazione Cariplo. In 2018, an article he co-authored won the Farmafactoring Best Paper Award in the Healthcare Management category.
Giorgio earned his master's degree in Economics and Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions in 2011 from Università Bocconi and a Ph.D. in Management in 2018 from the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa.
