Francesco Longo

Biography

Francesco Longo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Università Bocconi.

At SDA Bocconi, he is a researcher at CERGAS Bocconi (Center for Research on Health and Social Care Management) of which he was Director from 2006 to 2012. He is the Director of OASI, the CERGAS/SDA Bocconi Observatory on the healthcare sector and its companies. He is member of the National Advisory Board for the Minister of Health. He conducts research, education and change management projects in public and healthcare sectors with ministries, regions, public and private companies.

His research activities focus on following topics: institutional and governance models of public sector organizations; strategies of companies and public interest networks; platform economy and co-production in the public realm,  organization and human resources management in public companies; health and social care organizations management; digital ecosystems and service design; public policies design and evaluation in an implementation perspective; change management in enterprises and public sectors.

He is the author of numerous books and articles on his topics of interest. His works have been published in Health Care Management Review, Health Policy, Mecosan, Rivista Trimestrale AGENAS and Azienda Pubblica, among others. He is a reviewer for the international journals Public Administration Review, Health Care Management Review, Managing Accounting Review and The international Journal of Public Sector management; he is a member of the scientific committee of the journals Azienda Pubblica and Prospettive Sociali e Sanitarie and he is a referee for Mecosan and Azienda Pubblica. He is a member of many national committees, scientific committees and advisory boards of many major businesses and public organizations. He has been a Visiting Professor in many universities, including the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Aix-Marseille University; he has also been a Research Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University) and at the University of Potsdam.

Francesco earned a degree in Economics from Bocconi University.
