Donato Masciandaro

Biography

Donato Masciandaro (1961) from 2001 is Full Professor of Economics at Università Bocconi. From 2005 he holds the Chair in Economics of Financial Regulation.  In the same University he has been Head of the Department of Economics (2008-2010, 2013-2017), and from 2018  he is Director of the  Baffi Centre on Economics, Finance and Regulation, while from 2023 he is Director of the  Area on Economics, Politics and Decision Sciences in the SDA Bocconi Business School.  From 2024 he is President of the SUERF (Société Universitaire Européenne de Recherches Financières). From 2023 he is Director of the Financial Education Committee, Ministry of Economics and Finance, Italy.

He has served as a visiting and advisor for international institutions such as the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations.

His research activities focus on monetary and financial economics, particularly in three areas: central banking (monetary policy and banking supervision), economics and political economy of financial regulation, economics of illegal financial markets. His Impact Factor (March 2024) is 41.35.

Donato earned a degree in Economics and Social Sciences from Università Bocconi.
