Biography
Alexander Maximilian Hiedemann is a Lecturer in Government, Health, and Not for Profit at SDA Bocconi School of Management and, starting from the academic year 2024-25, the Director of the course "Management of International and Supranational Organizations" at Università Bocconi.
Since his arrival in 2015, he has managed research and training programs with leading public administrations at the national level (Local Authorities, Public Companies, Pension Institutes, Central Administrations) and internationally (governmental and non-governmental organizations). In 2018/19, he was the Director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA), and since 2015, he has been the Coordinator of the Executive Master in Management of International Organizations (EMMIO).
He is the lead instructor for courses (open market and custom) in Process and Project Management, Operations and Risk Management, Operation and Supply Chain Management in humanitarian aid, and, within EMMAP, the Executive Master in Public Administration, the overseas module of "Comparative Public Management." He has developed online courses and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) such as the course "Management of International Development: Towards Agenda 2030" offered by Università Bocconi. He is also a Faculty Member of Project Management at SDA Bocconi Asia Center.
He has conducted executive training programs and research for numerous public institutions at the national and international levels. His research focuses on Operations Management in public administration and international institutions. Recently, he has been involved in research groups related to topics such as Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030); synergistic application of "Lean" and "Nudge" logics; digital growth; evolution of humanitarian intervention management models.

Alexander earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics of Public Administrations and International Institutions from the University of Ferrara, a Master of Science in CLAPI - Economics and Management of Public Administrations and International Institutions from Bocconi University, and a Ph.D. in Economics and Management of Innovation and Sustainability - EMIS from the University of Ferrara in collaboration with the University of Parma.
