Dario Scagliotti was born in Casale Monferrato, Italy, in 1961.
After a Degree with Honors in Mathematics at the Milan University, he started his professional career in the ENI Group, as a Financial Analyst, moving then into the IT world, being engaged in mathematical modelling for financials and oil exploration aspects. He later joined Montedison Group (at that time the most relevant chemical Group in Italy) as IT Leader for supporting R&D activities in the Polyolefins business, then moving on to Shell Chemicals Ģ¶ being based in Belgium and in the Netherlands for some years Ģ¶ and becoming IT Director Europe for the company currently named LyondellBasell, which at that time was part of the Shell Group.
At the end of 1996 Dario was appointed CIO for Pirelli Cavi & Sistemi, the company/business currently known as Prysmian, the worldwide industry leaders in cables and fibers, which was part at that time of the Pirelli Group. In 2001 he was then promoted to the role of Pirelli Group Global CIO; in his role, he has also served from 2002 to 2007 as Managing Director for Shared Service Center, a joint venture between Telecom Italy and Pirelli for delivering IT services especially focusing on SAP large scale systems implementations. In 2011 he joined Luxottica, the worldwide leader in eyewear, as Luxottica Group CIO, being responsible for IT & Digital IT organization in the Group, leading a team of 600+ IT professionals and focusing specifically on supporting the boost of the “digital transformation” of the Group. Effective May 2021, Dario was appointed Global CIO for EssilorLuxottica. Currently based in Milan, happily married with Laura, with one daughter, Camilla.
