The Blockchain Journey is a multimedia and interactive program that can be attended entirely online. To maximize your understanding of the various topics, we suggest that during your 4-week learning period you devote to the course at least 3-4 hours per week. Each module encompasses video lessons, multimedia quizzes, interactive presentations, case studies, academic papers and more. During the unit, you will also take step by step tests to guarantee a continuous and progressive understanding of the topics. At the end of each module, you will find both a final test to assess what you have learnt and a summary of the contents of the week.
You will be studying the Blockchain paradigm from a 360-degree perspective: from its inner workings to the legal aspects to its possible applications. Here is the program’s structure:
Module 1: Introduction to blockchain
The first week will be dedicated to address some of the key questions regarding blockchain, its origins, working mechanisms and main features. We will also introduce briefly the relationship between blockchain and Bitcoin (as you will discover, it is indeed quite difficult to talk about the former without naming the latter).
Module 2: The Bitcoin paradigm in 5 Ws
The second week will be focused on understanding the principles and the inner workings behind Bitcoin, and on the exploration of Bitcoin’s story, current state of the art and future outlook. To do so, we will answer to five main questions: the 5 Ws of Bitcoin. Also, in order to cover the topic properly, we will use the help of a special guest, one of the most renowned experts on the subject: Giacomo Zucco.
Module 3: The blockchain application landscape
The third week will be dedicated to the analysis of all the other possible implementations of blockchain technology, with particular reference to enterprise applications. Companies across many industries have already started to adopt blockchain. Both the academia and practitioners are providing use cases where blockchain is applied to enhance legacy systems or to offer new services. We will provide a description of the most relevant and recurring use cases, thanks also to interviews with specialists from PwC, Enel, IBM and Chainside.
Module 4: Implementing blockchain
The fourth week will deal with three complex topics. Firstly, the implementation of blockchain within legacy IT systems. Secondly, we will see what architectural options it is possible to realize by combining these layers, by identifying four main blockchain architectures. Finally, we will analyze what are the possibilities of realizing off-chain applications; to discuss this final topic, we will have with us Thomas Bertani, Oraclize’s CEO, and Lawrence Nahum, Blockstream’s CTO.
This program is aimed at all those who want to deepen their knowledge of blockchain and Bitcoin, and analyse them from a holistic point of view. In particular, the course is mainly designed for people working with digital technologies and professionals involved in the field of digital transformation.
