Philanthropy: a word that for many people still has a certain flavor of nineteenth-century paternalism. Yet philanthropy is still alive and widespread, it even drives huge capitals and is driven by new and different motivations. It’s the basis of many humanitarian, social, and cultural projects of all sizes and at all latitudes. Its contribution to some causes can be decisive and often means a better quality of life for many people. At the threshold of the third millennium, philanthropy needs to be redefined and analyzed in all its forms and dynamics, to make it a a truly valuable resource for real impact.

"As the size of giving is increasing, the array of tools available to social investors is expanding and the boundaries with impact investing are blurring. Both the social investment market and the philanthropic market are responsible for a fruitful discussion on impact and sustainability, for the benefit of all."
"We are arriving to a moment where incorporating private clients’ appetite for social change into their wealth management strategies is becoming commonplace. With so many social impact instruments in the wealth advisory toolbox, the old dichotomy “I donate OR I invest” is over. We are entering the age of Total Portfolio Management."
"The real challenge in philanthropy and impact investing is much more about identifying high-quality, scalable funding opportunities than about securing the financial resources to effect change. Dispassionate analysis and a collaborative spirit are increasingly driving these fields forward as we tackle the UN Sustainable Goals 2030."
