Universal Health Coverage

A Strategic International Health Care Event
10th February 2012, Milano - Italy.

SDA Bocconi School of Management's Master of International Health Care Management, Economics and Policy (MIHMEP), has been proud to host the International Conference on Sustaining and Implementing Universal Health Coverage, which took place at Università Bocconi Grafton Building on 10th February 2012, in collaboration with Bocconi Alumni Association.

A unique international gathering of high visibility and importance, the Conference represented the most prestigious health care event ever to be held in Italy and addressed the most challenging topics of Universal Health Care with esteemed guest speakers and a round table event. Four different perspectives have been exposed and discussed during the Plenary and the Round Table sessions. The discussants were high level academics and prominent figures from all parts of the globe and all areas of health care (Policy, Management, Economics, Global and Public Health), (see program) and global decision-makers such as WHO, World Bank and Private Sector.

Aimed at addressing the hot topics of the four pillars of the MIHMEP Master (Global Health & Development; Health Care Management; Health Systems Planning & Governance; Pharmaceutical & Medical Technology), the Conference Program has been divided into three main parts:

  1. How the theme of Universal Coverage of Health is approached in Academia.
  2. How Universal Coverage can be implemented: presentation of cases by MIHMEP Alumni working in the Industry, Governments, NGOs, International Organizations, and Funders.
  3. How Universal Coverage of Health is dealt with by global decision-makers such as the European Commission, OECD, WHO, World Bank and Industry.

The event was open to all who have a keen interest in this global theme which concerns all countries from the most industrialized to emerging markets and developing countries. In particular, the participants included:

  • Health Care Managers
  • International and Italian members from the Private Sector, including the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical sectors
  • Policymakers, including representatives from Ministries and Regulatory agencies
  • Academics of the Health Care sector
  • Università Bocconi and SDA Bocconi Community - Alumni and current students
