Moving to Milan to study MIHMEP in SDA Bocconi has proven to be the most significant decision that I have made so far in my career.
I qualified as a pharmacist in Ireland in 2018, but as I worked on the frontlines throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I believed that I could make a bigger impact. That is when I made the decision to go to business school. As I scoured journals and articles on the internet, and discussed my options with former professors, MIHMEP was the one Master’s program that really stood out for me on account of its global and broad prospective on the healthcare industry (Pharma & Med Tech, Healthcare Management, and Global Health & Development). I immediately understood SDA Bocconi’s remarkable European and world B-School rankings once I arrived. We were immersed in incredibly interesting and current material, receiving lectures from, and interacting with academics and experts who are at the very top of their field. I gained invaluable insights and perspectives on aspects of the healthcare industry that I had never previously considered or acknowledged during my clinical career.The program also enabled me to travel to different countries for internships and full-time employment. But most importantly, I now have a global network of alumni, peers, and friends from every corner of the globe. MIHMEP truly has opened countless opportunities for me, both personally and professionally. I am a former scientist and I spent my last four years at the Institute Curie, in Paris. There, I performed a PhD in biomedical science and drug development, within the frame of multidisciplinary European project.
Despite my early academic successes, I soon realized that my scientific achievements alone would have been insufficient to secure what I was aiming for, a managerial position in the pharmaceutical business. Precisely, I am convinced that key profiles within the pharmaceutical firms must have a strong scientific background as well as a managerial and business acumen.
On this basis, I decided to attend MIHMEP. The completion of MIHMEP represents an essential step for my next career path, laying the groundwork for a successful future managerial profile within the pharmaceutical and health sector.
