The Research Division

The Research Division is the research centre of the SDA Bocconi School of Management. It was set up twenty-two years ago and was recently given a new lease of life when the decision was made to name it after Prof. Claudio Dematté , whose scientific, teaching, and professional activities were always a fine example of how management decisions and actions should always be based on a meticulous and wide-ranging system of knowledge.

The Claudio Dematté Research Division has the task of studying issues and trends in the management of companies and institutions (financial and public institutions, and non-profit organisations), and it adopts a perspective that embraces many disciplines: strategies and finance in businesses and markets, personnel management and organisation, marketing and distribution, innovation and the management of production and information technologies, and company control and administration.
The team of professors and researchers who work in the SDA Research Division excel in terms of their international experience and background, which allows SDA to compete with the great schools of management and with the most advanced research groups in taking up the challenge of discovering and creating new knowledge for management. This is why the SDA Research Division is a unique centre of excellence among Italian research units in the field of business and economics, and it has been acknowledged by Università Bocconi as a Centre of Strategic Interest.

The Research Division works towards two great complementary objectives: that of being a centre of competence recognised by the national and international scientific community, and that of becoming a key centre for managers, companies, and institutions interested in management issues.

In order to achieve these objectives, the Research Division works on three types of research:
