When Knowledge Makes the Difference

In competitive processes that are increasingly based on the speed of learning and on innovation and intangible aspects, the knowledge that is in the hands of individuals and organisations is of crucial importance. The mission of SDA Bocconi School of Management – the business management school of Università Bocconi – and of its wide-ranging research activities is to ensure that key figures in the world of the economy and production can have full access to the most advanced management theories, processes, and techniques.

The objective of SDA Bocconi School of Management is precisely that of bringing the most advanced studies and research at the international level into contact with the practical needs and operational problems of those involved in the management of companies and financial and public institutions. These objectives underpin the research work that is carried out at SDA Bocconi, in the conviction that knowledge plays a key role in building up competitiveness, efficiency, and quality, and in introducing processes of innovation and change.

The Leading Management collection project takes up this thirty-year-long commitment, offering the general public the results of the research and experiments carried out by SDA Bocconi professors and researchers. The collection was launched with the aim of offering managers and professionals in-depth analyses of the most advanced management techniques and issues, from a perspective that considers the challenge of managing companies and institutions as involving a sweeping range of disciplines: strategies and finance in businesses and markets, organisation, personnel management and organisational behaviour, marketing and distribution, innovation in and management of production and information technologies, and company control and administration.

This collection allows the community of Italian professionals and managers to make use of a publishing project that deals with particular problems which are of great importance for the world of business and of the institutions, analysing them and presenting them in accordance with strict methodologies and techniques, and in compliance with international research standards. The aim is not just to improve the cultural background and expertise of the readers, but also to have a direct impact on the management practices of companies and institutions.
