THE TEAM OF MBA AND MIHMEP STUDENTS CAME SECOND IN THE HEALTHCARE CASE COMPETITION ORGANIZED BY WARWICK BUSINESS SCHOOL AND HELD IN LONDON.
An honorable runner-up spot for the SDA Bocconi team which last weekend participated in the 2015 WBS Case Challenge organized by Warwick Business School and sponsored by GE Healthcare and GE Healthcare Finnamore. Held in London, the competition challenges teams from business schools to come up with innovative solutions to current challenges in the healthcare industry.
The competition encourages the participation of multidisciplinary teams and SDA Bocconi was in fact represented by 3 students from the MBA program and 3 from the MIHMEP program (the Master of International Health Care Management, Economics &Policy). The MBA students were Davide Scannapieco, from Italy, Johanna Grisales, Colombian, and Sahil Sahni, from India, while the MIHMEP students were Piero Senatore, Italian, Olaitan Awonusi, Nigerian, and Miguel Mirò, from Spain.
8 teams from very well known business schools (besides SDA Bocconi: ESADE, CASS, Manchester, Rotterdam 1 and 2, Warwick, Judge Cambridge) participated in the competition and SDA Bocconi team went through the first round together with the Manchester Business School, which eventually got the grand prize of the competition.
Both MBA and MIHMEP participants were very happy with the results and the exposure they got from their participation.
“It was an amazing opportunity for us to compete with other top-tier business schools and network with students from all around the world, not to mention the exposure to the healthcare industry,” says Johanna Grisales, Healthcare Club President. “And our second place was a great satisfaction with both judges and colleagues deeply appreciating our contributions and ideas.”
"Our team did an excellent job at the WBS Case Competition" says Stefano Gatti, MBA Director, "and this example clearly shows what the MBA spirit is: constructive competition, network, possibility to practice the body of knowledge of an intense and challenging learning program".
"The SDA Bocconi team did a great job!" comments Federico Lega, MIHMEP Director. "I'm very proud of MIHMEP students: once more they distinguished themselves in an international MBA competition. As the case discussed in the competition was based on healthcare, this result shows very well the power of a Master education that combines strong managerial competences with a deep understanding of the specificities and dynamics of the sector".
