Message from the Committee

Health care is a growing economic sector that faces one of the major challenges of modern society: improving people’s health worldwide

Increasingly there is a need, in a plethora of different areas within the healthcare sector, ranging from national and multinational pharmaceutical and biotech companies to healthcare providers such as hospitals and aid organizations to research centers, for new professionals who can combine a deep understanding of health and healthcare with the up-to-date management and policy skills required to respond to the particular set of problems facing this new century.

As it enters its thirteenth year of experience, SDA Bocconi's MIHMEP program has taken up this challenge in its commitment to forge a new cadre of specialized professionals.

This new managerial force is trained to meet both the specific management issues facing healthcare systems and, in particular, those facing the ever growing biotech/medical device and pharmaceutical segments, and to promote and manage change in both the private and public healthcare sectors, by combining management skills with a sound knowledge of economics, epidemiology and health policy expertise.

The creation of professionals with new profiles has been successful in satisfying the existing need within the healthcare sector and in broadening the horizons of healthcare management and policy.

Over the past twelve years, the numerous MIHMEP achievements and international credentials are to be ascribed to the didactic method, which perfectly combines traditional academic teaching with dynamic team work and a direct approach to the professional world.

This is made possible thanks to the students’ participation in internships within healthcare organizations and companies in Italy and abroad, which give participants the opportunity to apply “in the field” what they have learnt in class and to tackle the professional world with enthusiasm and a more consolidated confidence in the future.

Although the MIHMEP program is undoubtedly a demanding one, we are convinced that those who decide to confront this challenge will acquire a solid professional grounding on which to build their careers and manage effective health care systems.

This is a challenge that SDA Bocconi MIHMEP students must take up with passion and enthusiasm, conscious that it will make them the herald of a new managerial culture in the healthcare world.
