The Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health (SItI), established in 1921 by Achille Sclavo, counts over 2000 members including all the Italian university teachers of hygiene, epidemiology and public health and many public health officers working in the National Health Service and in other public and private health organizations.
The Association provides a forum for those interested in:
- co-operating for the advancement of teaching and research in the field of hygiene, epidemiology, public health, preventive and community medicine, health education, health services management and health services research;
- encouraging co-operation between public health professionals, national and local health administrators, and Italian and international associations involved in the same fields of interest;
- supporting the scientific and professional development of prevention activities and further qualifications of public health professionals and teachers
- and promoting health education activities to improve the health conditions of the population.
