On numerous occasions MIHMEP has organized extra-curricular events in order to allow the participants to be better oriented for the opportunities that will present themselves in the future, but also to make them aware of the vast network that the program has established over the last 13 years.

In the first term, current MIHMEP Students, apart from regular classes, have had the opportunity to learn more about what MIHMEP can offer them in the future.

Apart from the Specialization Day on which the students could listen to presentations from 3 Specialization Coordinators to make the right choice regarding their specialization courses in the 2nd and 3rd terms and, most importantly, future career path, they also participated in the 10th edition of the MIHMEP Internship Day – the initiative to which we invited 12 possible hosting institutions ranging from international organizations, through pharmaceutical and medical device companies, NGOs, hospitals, etc. to consulting companies.

Below you can find a testimonial from Marissa Iannarone, MIHMEP12 Student who shared her opinion about these events:

Specialization Day
The Specialization Day was a wonderful opportunity for me to meet the coordinators of the four MIHMEP tracks and to get a better sense of what each specialization has to offer. Each presentation was an exciting and engaging look into each sector, and the enthusiasm of the coordinators was contagious. Also hearing MIHMEP Alumni speak on the different arenas that they are now working in was very informational. I also appreciated MIHMEP Director’s support in choosing our specialization based on intuition and gut feeling as opposed to the pressures of future career selection. The entire day got me really excited for the second and third terms, I can’t wait!

Internship Day
The Internship Day was a very full and tiring day, but worth every minute. I learned so much about areas of healthcare that I never knew existed before. The opportunities that we are being offered are really amazing and so diverse. Coming from a global health background, I was surprised how interesting I found all the internships, even those for the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. The day gave me so much information and really challenged me to think about what I would really like to do for my internship. I feel fortunate to have access to Bocconi’s amazing network of connections and internship possibilities.

MIHMEP - Specializations 2011

Starting from MIHMEP 13 (academic year 2011-2012) students will be expected to choose among 3 specializations, introduced to reinforce the MIHMEP brand without losing sight of its original spirit, nature and philosophy. There will be a total number of 120 hours of specialization courses and seminars to be taken by every MIHMEP student in the 2nd and 3rd terms. In addition, to receive the MIHMEP Diploma, students have to choose 3 elective courses (minimum 72 hours) from the overall MIHMEP elective course list. The choice of elective courses can be based on the individual’s interests and future career expectations, adding value to the specialization courses or learning of new subjects. Choosing a specialization is mandatory.

After the completion of MIHMEP, students will be awarded the MIHMEP Diploma and a separate certificate reporting the specialization undertaken. It could be used on the market to reinforce one’s ability to be selected for a position should one need to use it as a proof of additional/specific qualification. However the MIHMEP diploma itself would not prevent a student from applying for a position and receiving a job not related to a chosen specialization.
