1. Can you briefly tell us about your work experience before you started MAFED?
Previous to the MAFED program I was able to not only gain fashion-related experience but also a familiarity of the public sector. During my Business Studies degree in England I was enabled to carry out a placement year at the European Patent Office in Munich, where I mostly worked within the training department, which thereafter I sustained to carry out on a consultant basis up until the MAFED programme.
Shortly after graduating from my bachelors’ degree and having gained a substantial insight into the public sector, I came across the opportunity of performing a fashion industry related internship with Triumph International, a German intimate apparel manufacturer, again within the training department. Fashion has by all means been a continuous passion and curiosity of mine, hence the internship proved a first small step closer to a world I had always been vastly intrigued by.
This experience immediately triggered me to pursue a career within this area which eventually led to my application to the MAFED programme.
2. What field project were you assigned for this year at MAFED and how are you liking it so far?
For the field project I was fortunate enough to be assigned to work on the Yoox project, which entailed an in-depth analysis of the US ecommerce market in addition a recommendation of positioning within this market to the company.
Besides an interesting and significant topic, especially to the future of the fashion industry, my colleague and I were given the chance of carrying out two months of our research at the New York based office of Yoox. This implies gaining first-hand research onsite of the selected market as well as discovering the opportunities which a summer in one of the leading fashion capitals has to offer.
So far the project has been incredibly fascinating, allowing me to further discover the topic of ecommerce as well as applying the theory to real life. Moreover, the opportunity of working on a day-to-day basis at the Yoox office, allows for a real insight into company and the work it entails working for such firm.
3. What do you expect at the completion of the Master's program?
For the completion of MAFED I certainly have high expectations. Not only do I wish to put the knowledge acquired to practice within one of the fields of fashion, design or experience, but also hope MAFED will open doors which previously had been inaccessible or unknown to me.
Moreover, I expect for the programme to have equipped me with the necessary tools to survive within such a competitive environment not only within the local but international market.
