International economic outlook

Seminar 1 - 25 January 2010

The first seminar will be held the next Monday 25th of January, at the Portman Ritz Carlton in shanghai at 6:30 pm (registration desk will open at 6:15 pm) and it will includes two keynote speakers - Prof. Guido Tabellini, the Rector of Bocconi University, and Mr Ge Qi (葛琦), President and Managing Partner at Diligence Capital - follow by a round table.

The main theme of the event is the International Economy Outlook.

Prof. Guido Tabellini is Rector and Professor of Economics at Bocconi, he obtained his PhD at UCLA and taught at Stanford University and UCLA prior to joining Bocconi in 1994. In Bocconi, he was closely involved with the launch of the PhD program in Economics and served as Director of the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (IGIER) until 2002, when time he became President of the Institute.
In 2003, he was named honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 2007 he became President of the European Economic Association. He has been consultant to the IMF and the Italian government. He sits in the editorial board of a number of scientific journals and in the scientific advisory board of several international research centers. He is a regular columnist of the daily Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore and has published op-eds in many international newspapers.
The underlying theme throughout the majority of his work is the positive and normative analysis of economic policy. He is a member of various research centers including CESifo (Munich) and CEPR (London) and is a fellow at the Econometric Society.

Mr. Ge (Andy) Qi is the President & Managing Partner at Diligence Capital since September 2009. He is the former Dean at Partners Group China Structuring and Investment solutions. Partners Group develops and manages customized private equity and hedge funds products and investment solutions for different investor profiles. On the private equity side, the firm is involved in private equity partnerships, direct and co-investments, secondary transactions and publicly traded private equity investment vehicles. Currently, it has an AUM of USD 24 billion, 10 offices and over 300 employees globally. From about 8 year, from 2000 until 2008, he was the Section Chief in the Fiscal and Financial Department at Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council. The Legislative Affairs Office(LAO), is a working body to the State Council, that is the Central People’s Government of China, assisting the Premier in handling legislative affairs and other legal affairs.

A round table coordinate by Mr Luca Vinciguerra, Asian Correspondent for “Il Sole-24 Ore” in Shanghai, and with the attendance also of Mr Francesco Sirna, the Chief Financial Officer of Citibank (China) Co., Ltd., will follow the key note speakers’ presentation.

About the two panelists.

Frank is the Chief Financial Officer of Citi China, responsible for all Finance functions across the China-wide franchise, including four operating Legal Vehicles.
Frank began his career as an auditor with KPMG, joining Citi in 1989 in Milan, Italy. He has held various senior positions in Finance in the Corporate and Consumer Banks at country level and at the regional level. He has spent his Citi career in the Emerging Markets, working in Milan, Madrid, Bangkok, Miami and now Shanghai. Prior to moving to China Frank was located in Miami, Florida as Regional CFO for 18 countries in Latin America, including the operations in the Caribbean, Central America and Andean Regions, with responsibility for all Citi franchises in these countries.
Frank is a US Certified Public Accountant with undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Wisconsin.

Luca Vinciguerra holds a degree in Economics from Bocconi University where he served also as Professor of Industrial Economy in the years 1987-1988. He has a long experience as a Journalist and in particular in Asia where he worked as correspondent for the “Il Sole 24 Ore” from Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing and now Shanghai.
