Valeria Tozzi is Associate Professor of Practice in the Government, Health and Not for Profit Division at SDA Bocconi School of Management. From 2014 to 2023 she was the Director of the Master MiMS (Master in healthcare management) and since 2023 she has been Director of EMMAS (Executive Master in Management of Healthcare and Social Organizations).
At SDA Bocconi Valeria has directed education programs for senior executives of several Italian hospitals, local health authorities, regions, national institutions focused on healthcare and many pharmaceutical companies (Novartis, Gilead, Roche, Boehringer Ingelheim, Amgen, etc). She is the Scientific Program Director of the courses OMFT (Oncology Management Fast Track) and NeuroMLab (Neurology Management Lab). She has conducted numerous research, education and consulting projects with Ministero della Salute, Agenas, Regione Lombardia, Regione Veneto, Fiaso, Biogen and many others. She frequently manages board inductions on strategic change in healthcare. She was recently a member of the Board of Directors of Sassuolo private hospital.Her research activities focus on organisation management in healthcare, clinical governance and clinical networks.
Her current research addresses three main questions. The first is the impact of new rembursement models for healthcare services (bundled payments, payment for coordination, payment for perfomance, etc.). She is working on mental health matters to test and design a new bundled reimbursement scheme. The second focuses on the approach to population health management. The third is aimed at accessing chronic care models and determining the drivers of their effectiveness and outcome.
She is the author of numerous books and articles on her topics of interest. Her work has been published in Health Policy, the International Journal of Integrated Care, the International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Health Services Management Research, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, among others. In 2013 Valeria won a special commendation awarded by Presidenza della Repubblica for enhancing the managerial approach on the multiple sclerosis care model. Valeria serves on the advisory board of various companies.
Valeria earned a degree in Business Administration from Università Bocconi and a PhD in Public Management from Università di Parma. She is married.
