The goal of this observatory, promoted jointly by SDA Bocconi, Altagamma and Ernst & Young, regards the periodical monitoring of the main listed fashion, luxury goods and design companies (in 2006 the sample was composed of 53 companies) at the worldwide level so as to provide company management and those in the trade significant information on the economic/financial results and economic dynamics of the leading players.
The osservatorio draws up a six-monthly research report, in Italian and English, that illustrates the results with reference to the sample as a whole and to some partial groupings of companies. The first report was presented in October 2006 at the offices of Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy's leading financial newspaper.
