Faculty & Competence

Presentation

The mission of the Marketing Department of the SDA Bocconi School of Management has always been to produce understanding of new knowledge on the management of commercial functions.
Today, our Marketing department's objective is to build on a heritage of knowledge built up over many years of experience in foreign markets so as to support Italian enterprise in the challenge of internationalisation and innovation.

From this perspective, key importance is given to the internationalisation of the programs and the Faculty, supported by the constant exchange of experience with a wide-ranging network of prestigious international business schools.
We are at the sixth edition of the program for senior managers “The Marketing in You”, designed and run with the ESADE Business School (Barcelona and Madrid, Spain) and at the fourth edition of the “Executive Master in Marketing & Sales”. This highly innovative program is designed and run with ESADE (Barcelona and Madrid, Spain). Over recent years, teachers in courses and seminars in the Marketing Area have included: Olivier Badot - ESCP-EAP de Paris, Richard Bagozzi - Rice University Houston Texas, David Cravens - TUC Fort Worth Texas, Richard A. Daveni - TUCK Dartmouth Hanover, Alan Sawyer - University of Florida, Gainesville, Lluis Martinez Ribes - ESADE Business School, Barcelona and Rajendra Srivastava – Goizueta Business School, Emory University, Atlanta.

To pursue its mission, the Marketing Department bases its work mainly on three activities: research, education and networking.

  • Research is fundamental to the constant regeneration of teachers' competencies and course contents. It is run in various ways: at the individual level and/or in teams by the members of the Faculty, in the framework of the Osservatorio Retailing,  and through Customised research;
  • Education is divided in two segments: open enrolment programs and custom programs;
  • Networking is organised through the Marketing Community, made up of all of those who want to keep close bonds with the faculty after attending an SDA Bocconi course in marketing. Networking means encouraging the circulation of ideas and knowledge: the more knowledge spreads, the more its value grows, in a positive sum game for everyone.

Our Department is striving to foster increasingly close-knit relations, a real community for its clients – the Marketing Community – that is becoming a point of reference for managers and entrepreneurs.
