Just when SDA Bocconi has reached the pinnacle of internationalization, the 15,000 managers it trains every year have shown their appreciation by voting it fifth business school in Europe and fifteenth in the world
In 2007, the Italian and international business community raised its appreciation of SDA Bocconi’s executive programs. This is proved by the improvement the Milan school of management has made in the executive education ranking, published in the Financial Times this morning.
The ranking, mainly based on assessments by program participants (15,000 a year for the Milan school of management), puts SDA Bocconi fifth in Europe (+1, beating such a prestigious school as London Business School) and fifteenth in the world (+6).
In compiling the ranking, the Financial Times uses thirty-two parameters, 21 of which are based on the assessment of participants. Half of the parameters are used to assess the quality of the open enrolment programs while the other half are used to assess the custom programs, that is programs that have been designed by listening to client needs and developed to fit those needs. SDA Bocconi’s ranking is in fact a result of the improvement the school has made in both classifications: it has jumped five places in the open enrolment ranking and nine in the custom ranking, the market segment with the strongest growth in the world.
“This result is particularly rewarding for two reasons,” said the dean of the SDA Bocconi, Alberto Grando. “First of all, it confirms the growing trend we have seen for some years now; secondly, because this acknowledgement has come just when SDA Bocconi is offering ever international open enrolment programs, programs that are often offered as a joint program with other universities. SDA Bocconi has stepped onto the international business education stage with all its strengths, an area where other countries have clear advantages, both language and image.”
Among the aspects of the SDA Bocconi that clients seem to have appreciated the most we can point out the way the programs are organized, the follow-up process and the infrastructure offered. All of this ads up to a very high desire to reuse the school for future training programs.
