SDA Bocconi goes the extra mile for executives

17 April 2008

Executive Education Excellence, in collaboration with UCLA, Fudan, Esade and Cornell.

A program for businesses and managers who wish to map out a structured curriculum of training and growth in an international environment.

The concept of permanent training has by now taken its place at the forefront of Italian and international business and industry. A growing number of executives with significant seniority are no longer feeling just the need to keep abreast of specific professional issues, but want to have access to structured degree programs that provide a clear personal and professional repositioning. Likewise, the most forward-looking companies would be willing to invest in resources they consider reliable and with good potential for growth, but cannot afford for them to leave their post for the length of time required for traditional degree programs. Executives and companies alike, then, realize the importance of truly international experience, in terms of both the language used and the training environment.
It is with the aim of satisfying these new needs that the SDA Bocconi School of Management has developed Executive Education Excellence, an international training package for executives and senior executives aimed at businesses and individuals who wish to map out a serious program of growth and training in career areas with high international exposure without sacrificing the continuity of their existing work commitments.
The package comprises four programs, all taught in English, which place participants in a completely international environment with regard to both teaching staff and student body. All four programs, including those most declaredly functional, integrate multiple subjects in an effort to develop not just technical know-how but managerial skills such as leadership.

Senior executive program (Sep).
This is the new leadership program that focuses on the language and specifications of the financial services sector, designed for managers with 10-15 years of experience. The program vaunts an international faculty that includes the managing director of corporate strategy for J.P. Morgan, the bank that is now reaping the benefits of going against the grain in the past, having just acquired Bear Stearns. Included in this original didactic program are a session of media training in the studios of the financial television channel Class Cnbc and an analysis of one’s physical and mental resistance to stress at MilanLab. The student-teacher ration is one to one. Distributed over three 1- week units from September to March.

Global executive Mba (Emba).
Twenty-four months of alternation between classroom and distance learning to acquire a complete understanding of the dynamics of business and the soft skills indispensable for being an effective manager. Two international units are conducted at Fudan University in Shanghai and the University of California in Los Angeles.

Executive master in marketing and sales (Emms).
Born from the collaboration of two of the best business schools in Europe (SDA Bocconi and Esade) and conducted in three of the continent's most vibrant cities (Milan, Barcelona, Madrid), the 14-month Emms program is the most stimulating learning environment for understanding the interrelations between marketing and sales in European markets, which are addressed in a comparative approach.

Executive master in strategic human resource management (Emshrm).
This program is designed to serve as a bridge between human resource concerns and corporate strategy. Realized in collaboration with Cornell University, the 11- month executive master trains professionals for senior positions who will have learned how to stimulate company performance through the introduction of best practice in the management of human resources.
